Lawrence County Jail Roster
The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office provides an inmate roster with Current Inmates and 48 Hour Release paths. The roster is a county custody tool, not a full court-record tool. It can help confirm whether a person is currently in the Lawrence County Detention Center or was recently released, but filed charges, docket events, pleas, dispositions, and sentences must be checked through Case.net or the Circuit Clerk when those records are public.
The Sheriff's roster landing page includes a disclaimer stating that information is collected, maintained, and provided for convenience. It also says the Detention Center cannot certify the information as accurate or authentic and that users should not rely on it for decisions. That warning matters because booking charges may later be amended, reduced, dismissed, or replaced by formal court charges filed by the Prosecuting Attorney.
All persons arrested in Lawrence County except Aurora and Monett municipal charges and taken into custody are transported to the Lawrence County Jail for book-in and incarceration. The jail houses adult male and female inmates, pretrial inmates, convicted inmates serving sentences, and inmates waiting for transfer to the Missouri Department of Corrections. The Aurora and Monett municipal exception is important when a local inmate search does not produce the expected person.
Use the Lawrence County Roster
The roster search has two main entry points: current custody and 48-hour release. Use the current view when checking present jail status. Use the release view when the person may have left custody recently. When the search does not find a person, check spelling, try the Show All option, and consider whether the person is in state custody, federal custody, another county, or a municipal process outside the usual Lawrence County jail path.
- Open the Lawrence County inmate roster landing page.
- Choose Current Inmates for active custody or 48 Hour Release for recent releases.
- Search by name, sort by name or date, or use Show All to clear a narrow search.
- Review the booking number, booking date and time, charges, bond, mugshot, and profile link shown in the listing.
- Call 417-466-2131 when the roster and custody question do not match or when travel is planned.
Booking information can change quickly. A person may post bond, be transferred, appear in court, have charges amended, or be released before the public view is updated. For filed criminal charges, use the court record. For state supervision after transfer, use Missouri DOC. For victim notification, use VINELink.
If the roster does not answer the question, match the question to the right office before making another search. Custody status, bond, and housing questions belong with the Sheriff's Office. Filed charges, court dates, and dispositions belong with Case.net or the Circuit Clerk. Report copies follow the sheriff's report-copy rule, which limits access to the person who made the report and requires valid picture ID in person.
Lawrence County Inmate Search Fields
The roster interface includes links, filters, sorting options, a name search box, and pagination. These controls are useful because the roster may contain enough records that a direct name search is faster than browsing page by page. Lawrence County Inmate Profile Fields
The observed roster listing fields focus on identity, custody intake, charge text, bond, and access to a profile link. The listing also showed a roster count at the top during inspection. Treat these fields as jail-level information. A charge shown on the roster is a booking charge and should be checked against filed court charges before being described as a final case result.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Mugshot | Roster image shown beside the listing when available. |
| Name | Person listed in current custody or recent release view. |
| Booking number | Jail booking identifier for the intake event. |
| Booking date/time | Date and time tied to the jail book-in. |
| Charges | Text list of booking charges where available. |
| Bond | Amount or status, including entries such as denied bond when shown. |
| View Profile | Link to more detail for that roster entry. |
| Roster count | Total count visible at the top of the roster during inspection. |
| Disclaimer | Convenience-only accuracy warning from the detention center. |
Note: Housing unit and projected release fields were not documented in the Lawrence County research and should not be assumed.
Lawrence County Jail Facility
The Lawrence County Jail is inside the Law Enforcement Center at 1525 Missouri Drive in Mount Vernon. The county project page says the new center was completed and occupied in December 2024, cost $23 million, combines the Sheriff's Office and jail, replaced a 52-bed 1986 jail, and includes a modern 120-bed detention center with room for future expansion. The sheriff history page uses 126-bed language, but the county project page's 120-bed figure is the official project figure used here.

The image supports the facility section because the current roster and jail operations now point to the Missouri Drive Law Enforcement Center.
Lawrence County Booking Intake
Booking is the custody process that creates much of the jail record. The official jail page says staff receive and process prisoners through computer book-in, Live Scan, iris scan, DNA collection, photography, searches, security-video monitoring, observation of inmate activities, inmate communication, and incoming calls about inmates and jail operations. These details explain why a booking record is operational and fast-moving.
The facility houses adult male and female inmates, pretrial inmates, convicted inmates serving sentences, and inmates awaiting DOC transport. Medical care includes a nurse during the normal business week who oversees medical requests and works with an on-call doctor who comes to examine inmates. Inmates have access to local television stations and may correspond through the inmate phone system and USPS postcards.
Meals are prepared by the on-duty jailer. The research listed a basic menu of oatmeal for breakfast, sandwich for lunch, and beans with cornbread for supper. Those details belong to jail operations, not the court case file. Filed charges, plea entries, dispositions, and sentencing entries must still be checked through court records.
Lawrence County Inmate Visitation
The Sheriff's official pages inspected did not publish a public visitation schedule. Do not use third-party visitation schedules for Lawrence County inmate visits. Call 417-466-2131 before travel to confirm whether in-person visits are available, whether approval is required, and whether the jail has changed its rules for the day.
| Topic | Official Lawrence County detail | Gap / caution |
|---|---|---|
| In-person visitation | Not published in inspected official pages | Call 417-466-2131 before travel. |
| Video visitation | Not located in official sources | Do not name a vendor unless later confirmed. |
| Attorney visits | Details not located in official sources | Confirm directly with jail staff or counsel. |
| Holiday changes | Not published in inspected official pages | Confirm before leaving for the jail. |
Lawrence County Inmate Mail and Funds
Official jail sources identify phone access, USPS postcards, commissary deposits, and online commissary ordering. Inmates may correspond through the inmate phone system and may send and receive postcards through USPS. The full mail format and all restrictions were not published in the inspected sources, so the safest approach is to call before sending anything beyond postcards.
| Topic | Official detail | Caution |
|---|---|---|
| Postcards through USPS are allowed. | Full format rules were not published in inspected pages. | |
| Phone system | Inmates may use the inmate phone system. | Complete pricing was not published. |
| Phone cards | Detainees may buy $5 and $10 phone cards. | Cards are 4 cents per minute less than collect or prepaid destination calls. |
| Lobby deposits | Family or friends may use the jail lobby ATM with cash, credit, or debit card. | Jail staff cannot accept money directly for detainee accounts. |
| Online deposits | TigerDeposits / Tiger Commissary supports web deposits and commissary orders. | Use the Lawrence County Sheriffs Office selection for Mt Vernon, MO. |
| Commissary items | Hygiene and select items may be bought through commissary. | Quantity and frequency restrictions exist for some items. |
| Release balance | Remaining account balance is placed on a debit card at release. | Confirm procedures with jail staff when needed. |
The Tiger Commissary Lawrence County portal is a manifest source for inmate funds and commissary access.
The Tiger Commissary image connects to the deposit rules because jail staff cannot accept public money directly for detainee banking accounts.
County Jail Versus DOC
The Lawrence County jail roster is for county custody. Once a person is transferred to the Missouri Department of Corrections, search Missouri DOC Offender Search instead of expecting the county roster to remain the main source. If a person is in federal custody, use the federal locator. These systems answer different custody questions and may update on different schedules.
VINELink is linked by the Sheriff's Office and serves a different purpose from the roster. It supports custody notification, often for victims or people tracking custody changes. It should not be treated as a court docket or a substitute for the Circuit Clerk's criminal case records.
The VINELink source is one of the successful manifest images for Lawrence County inmate records.
The image belongs with the custody-notification discussion because VINELink is a separate channel from the county roster.
Lawrence County Inmate Record Limits
For report copies, the Sheriff's FAQ says a person who made a report may be able to obtain a copy within two business days by appearing at the Sheriff's Office with valid picture ID. Only the person making the report may obtain that report. That is a law-enforcement report process, not a broad public inmate-file request.
For filed charges, use Case.net and the Circuit Clerk. For warrants, use the sheriff warrant path, phone confirmation, court checks, and municipal court fallbacks as needed. For registry issues, the Sheriff's site and the Missouri State Highway Patrol registry are separate from the inmate roster, and registry accuracy limits should be read before relying on an address or status entry.
Important: A jail booking charge is not a conviction and should be checked against the filed court case.
